Everything positive coming out of the Striding Forwards to date

We have been very busy bee's this last few months.

We have been networking and getting our name out there and showing just how our anxiety management workshop can help people with their confidence.

Lets look at nine positives listed below.

Striding Forwards is using materials designed and developed by Jocelyn Duncan. Jocelyn is now retired and has passed the baton on to us to help people with their anxiety and confidence problems. Here is Jocelyn pictured below.

Our anxiety management workshop has been endorsed by former Caerphilly AM Jeff Cuthbert who is now the Gwent Police and Crime Commissioner since 2016, pictured below.

Our workshop has been promoted in the local media by the following media outlets.

The workshop has been so affective it was picked up by ITV News Wales, have a look at their report from the video below demonstrating parts of the mental health materials.

Our workshop has been assessed by The University of South Wales receiving positive feedback. Dr Anne Fothergill pictured below, is a principal lecturer in mental health research at the University of South Wales, she went on to say.

"The game has been evaluated with nursing and social work students and qualified staff and initial results were "extremely promising indeed."

Dean who setup Striding Forwards also attended the anxiety management workshop in 2014. He went on to manage anxiety and increase his confidence, this led to huge improvements in his work.

Dean who setup Striding Forwards IS now an official Time to Change Wales champion. Time to Change Wales is a Welsh Government funded campaign which aims to end the stigma and discrimination faced by people with mental health problems.

We have been active in our local community teaching people exactly what anxiety is and how they can boost their confidence levels. Here are photos of an event we were recently at.

We have had a productive meeting with the Cardiff and Vale Recovery & Wellbeing College.

We presented our ideas where they were very well received. Here is a short testimonial from the Cardiff and Vale Recovery & Wellbeing College.

The Cardiff and Vale Recovery & Wellbeing College will be giving us training opportunities that will help us improve how we present our workshops to people faced with mental health conditions.

In Cardiff we have forged many relationships with men who are heavily involved in substance mis-use and those who are consuming large amounts of alcohol.

After the first intial meetings we have been able to get to the route causes of peoples low self-esteem. We encouraged these men overtime and showed them how to manage their anxiety in different ways away from alcohol and drug substances. We cannot name the individuals because of confidentiality purposes. But lets look at three lads we have worked with.

The first person we worked with was un-employed and was a heavy drinker and occasional substance user. Overtime he cut down on drinking and completely cut down on substance mis-use. Within 4 months of working with him he found himself a job as a supervisor in retail store.

The second person we worked with was a heavy drinker. Over the past 3 months he has cut down on his drinking and has found a flat to live in as well as finding himself a girlfriend who is supporting him through difficult times, he is on the up.

This third person was a heavy drugs user. He has now completely stopped taking drugs and has now setup his own painting and decorating business which he has been trying to do for years.

Because firstly they have to have someone who believe's in them, someone to take time in building a relationship with someone they can trust, and when that trust is established you can encourage them to make positive changes that lead to the stepping stones of a healthier life. More confidence in these lads lives is helping them see their self-worth bringing more promise and positive prospects.

We have been invited to many events up and down Wales delivering mental health anti-stigma presentations. Here is Dean delivering a talk to the Womens Institute in Barry South Wales.

We received positive feedback from the Jacob Abraham Foundation

We delivered our "Understanding Anxiety, the Conscious and Unconscious Mind" workshop to the Jacob Abraham Foundation and received great feedback.

The Jacob Abraham Foundation said.

We have been working in our local community helping a local shop owner with her confidence when it comes to meeting people on the local high street. Sales have improved and this is evidence that we are making a difference in the community in a variety of ways. Here is a testimonial we recently received from Ashleigh.

We have had some great feedback and testimonials from people who have attended our anxiety management workshop.

"I am very thankful to Dean my mentor who has taught me how to manage my anxiety that was really getting in the way of me living my life. The management techniques and just knowing what anxiety is has helped me manage negative thoughts and my confidence has increased. I would recommend a session with Dean he can help you"
