A recap on summer events Striding Forwards have supported

We have been a busy this summer helping out in many events promoting good mental health to people all over Cardiff. Not only are we talking to people about mental health but have also been providing practical assistance to events we have attended. Let's take a look.

We contributed to a Mind Cymru Focus Group

We took part in a Mind Cymru focus group in partnership with Time to Change Wales. Here are a few photos.

This focus group helped us brain storm of new ways we can tackle mental health stigma showing people that mental health is nothing to be afraid of.

Striding Forwards supporting Make Lunch in Grangetown

We have been regularly providing practical support to Make Lunch in Grangetown. Here is a photo of a recent event.

Make Lunch has been setup by Grace Church Cardiff and runs during school holidays mainly over the summer holidays. Striding Forwards decided to support this project because it is a great place for the community to come together being able to talk and share with one another. Talking and sharing can help peoples mental health and we are all for community projects that encourage people to talk. Here are photos of Striding Forwards supporting a Make Lunch event in Grangetown.

Striding Forwards supporting Men Changing Lives

Striding Forwards has been offering pratical support to Men Changing Lives based in Ely. We are here to be a part of this community to positively encourage people and to offer our ears for people to talk.

We encourage events like this where people can support one another, listen to one another and be there for one another. Close knit communities like this offer great unity and positive environments like this can only help a persons mental health.

Striding Forwards exhibit at Housing Conference at Cardiff City Hall

Striding Forwards were at the Tenants Housing Conference talking with people about mental health stigma and why mental health is nothing to be afraid of.

We attend events like this to ensure people know that people who have a mental health condition can go on and live good and productive lives.

Striding Forwards supporting Cardiff City Football Club Foundation walking 5 a Side Football

Striding Forwards has been taking part in 5 a side walking football with a part of the Cardiff City Football Club Foundation.

We encourage events like this where people can come together to enjoy a bit of fun as well as getting some exercise in. It is proven that people who take part in regular exercise improve their mental health. Here are a few photos of the boys playing at the House of Sport.

Striding Forwards join Time to Change Wales at Butetown Carnival

Dean was at Butetown Carnival standing alongside Time To Change Wales campainging to end mental health discrimination. Here is a photo of the team.

We go out and tell our stories on how we have overcome mental illness and to show people that its not all doom and gloom when you have a mental health condition. Here are a few photos taken on the day talking with all kinds of people.

We provided practical assistance to Grand Avenue Festival

We helped out at Grand Avenue Festival volunteering to help this community event.

Events like this bring the community together and also provided us with the opportunity to talk to people about mental health stigma. People should not be afraid of mental health.

Campaigning at Cardiff Mela

The Time to Change Wales campaign is funded by the Welsh Government. It is a campaign that is run by Mind Cymru and Afariad Cymru who manage a network of champions going out and educating the public on what mental illness is and why we should not be afraid of mental health conditions.

We recently joined up with Time to Change Wales to talk to people at Cardiff Mela about mental illness and why we should not be afraid of it.

The bottom line is we are making progress and are contributing in ending mental health stigma and discrimination.

Striding Forwards supporting To Grangetown with Love

Striding Forwards has been volunteering for "To Grangetown with Love". This is a community intiative run by Grace Church Cardiff. They required volunteers to help clean up gardens, to litter pick and to help with their annual festival. Here is a photo of litter pickers out in Grangetown removing lots of rubbish from the streets.

Volunteering at events like this can help a persons mental health.

Striding Forwards supporting a local coffee morning

Striding Forwards has been offering pratical support to Church in the Avenue in Cardiff at their weekly coffee morning.

We encourage events like this where people can support one another, listen to one another and be there for one another. Close knit communities like this offer great unity and positive environments like this can only help a persons mental health.
